Custom Lasik – The Popular One
The most common procedure done at BoydVision is Custom Lasik. The procedure involves creating a thin flap in your outer cornea, revealing the underlying corneal tissue. Then, an excimer laser is used to reshape your cornea, allowing light to focus properly on your retina. This lets you ditch those pesky glasses or contacts you’ve been wearing. At the end of the procedure, the corneal flap is folded back into place.
All of our Lasik procedures are Custom, meaning we use additional information from pre-op testing to give you better results. It’s superior to your typical Lasik procedure, and the results speak for themselves.

Custom PRK – The Underrated One
PRK stands for photorefractive keratectomy. It was the first type of laser eye surgery and is still a popular option for people that do not qualify for Lasik. The difference between Lasik and PRK is the first step. Instead of creating a corneal flap, the outer layer of your cornea will be removed and discarded, prior to the excimer laser doing its work. The layer then grows back naturally within a few days after your surgery.
Pros
- Many people that do not qualify for Lasik make great candidates for PRK.
- Great for people with thin corneas.
- No risk of corneal flap complications.
Cons
- Longer healing time – the corneal flap needs time to regrow.
- Vision stabilization – can take longer to get that perfect vision.
Laser Blended Vision – The Mysterious One
For those people with presbyopia, laser blended vision correction is for you. Presbyopia typically affects people over the age of 45 as the lenses in our eyes age, they thicken and become inelastic. This causes blurry vision both near and far.
Laser blended vision shapes your dominant eye to see clearly at intermediate and far distances and your non-dominant eye for intermediate and close vision. By overlapping your intermediate vision, you brain can combine, or blend the images together, resulting in clear vision.

- Superior to typical “monovision” treatment for presbyopia.
- Reduces your need for reading glasses.
- Rapid recovery and visual stabilization.
Cons
- Doesn’t reverse presbyopia.
- While adapting, vision distance can feel strange.
