Dr. Michael J. Boyd, M.D.
As a proven laser eye surgeon with extensive experience in Canada, Dr. Boyd has performed over 15,000 PRK and LASIK laser eye surgeries. He is the chief medical director for BoydVision - an accredited laser & cataract surgical facility.
Dr. Boyd completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Ottawa in 1984, and his American Board of Ophthalmology qualifications in 1986. He has studied and performed ophthalmic procedures under several leading ophthalmologists in England, Saudi Arabia and the United States. Dr. Boyd has performed laser refractive surgery since 1995 as an independent surgeon, working with many other leading refractive surgeons.
Dr. Boyd is a staff surgeon at Burnaby General Hospital. As a Canadian ophthalmologist he is registered with BCSEPS (the British Columbia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons), COS (the Canadian Ophthalmological Society), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Boyd is also a member of accredited organizations affiliated with laser refractive surgery including CSCRS (the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons), ASCRS (the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) and ISRS (the International Society of Refractive Surgeons).
Dr. Boyd will be closely involved with your complete eyecare – including a thorough preoperative consultation, expert laser treatment and throughout your post-operative follow up. Brenda is a certified ophthalmic assistant and a very experienced laser technician. Previously employed at a high volume eye laser centre, Brenda has assisted in more than 15,000 surgeries since 1999. BoydVision is fortunate to have someone of Brenda's calibre to ensure flawless surgery days.

Bonnie is a Medical Office Assistant that our patients really like. Her personality is well suited to helping our patients. She began working with Dr. Boyd in 2001 and is very knowledgeable about the procedures at BoydVision.

Candy is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, contact lens fitter, and lens implant consultant for cataract patients. She has been working with BoydVision since 1996, and loves her job and patients. Candy has had LASIK surgery herself and can answer your questions about laser eye surgery. She is able to translate both Cantonese and Mandarin and is a valuable member of our staff.
