Dr. Boyd and his staff hear the positive impact that laser eye
surgery has had on their patients all the time. The majority of
the people who choose BoydVision Centre have done so through word

Every laser centre says they have the latest and best in
technology, yet they don’t all have the same laser. How can this
be? It is easy to say we have the best laser out there because
most people would not know the difference between one laser and
the next. We could go into lots of technical details, using words
like wavefront, prolate, oblate, megahertz, ablation diameter …
but why use words you don’t understand?
At BoydVision Centre, we do use the best of the best lasers (a
Zeiss Meditech MEL-80). But unlike some of the other lasers it
permits using more sophisticated software technology to
customize the laser treatment without increasing the cost of the
procedure. This permits better quality vision correction
including less night vision problems. All other laser centres ( especially those with initially lower entry price points ) will cost more for CUSTOM LASER VISION CORRECTION when compared to BoydVision Centre.
 Dr. Boyd doesn’t believe in misleading people. Our price is $995
per eye. ( Charging by eye is an industry standard. ) This price is low compared to the industry standard, but appears double compared to others. There are 3 main reasons why the price is relatively higher:
- It includes "customized laser vision
correction" which has to be matched to the equivelent
Wavefront standard of our competitors.
- Some laser centres have tiered
pricing - with variable pricing depending on the strength of
your prescription, pupil size, day of surgery.
- "All inclusive" - no insurance required, no deadline for retreatment, no extra cost of
punctal plugs.
Dr. Boyd has been doing laser eye surgery since 1996, making him
one of the most experienced doctors in the field. When we say he
has done well over 10,000 procedures, we mean him personally. Also, as opposed to many laser centres, the majority of your eye care including pre - and postoperative care is with Dr. Boyd - not just for the few minutes of surgical time.
We take a conservative approach to selecting candidates for laser
eye surgery. Dr. Boyd’s total income does not come from laser eye
surgery (he still operates a busy general ophthalmology practice).
This makes sure that you are a GOOD candidate for surgery if you
are approved at BoydVision Centre. If laser eye surgery is not
right for you, he is also able to offer other options that most
other clinics cannot, such as
multifocal lens implants, and refractive lens exchange.
